Journey Through the Middle

Have you ever felt stuck in a rut? Like a hamster on the wheel, you’re going through the motions but not really making any progress. I’ve been there.  In fact, I’m there right now, and it can be discouraging, to say the least. But here's the thing:  Sometimes, being stuck in a rut is a necessary step toward where God wants us to be. Just look at the story of Joseph.

Joseph was thrown into a pit by his brothers and sold into slavery. He ended up in Potipher's house, where he was eventually falsely accused and thrown into prison. But even in prison, Joseph rose to the top. He became the keeper of the prison, overseeing all the other prisoners.

Now, you might think that being the prison keeper was a high point in Joseph's life. After all, he was in charge of everything and everyone down there. But here's the thing—he was still in prison. He was still constrained by his circumstances.  The fact is, it was neither the lowest nor the highest point in his life's journey.  It was just somewhere in the middle.

And yet, this was a necessary step in Joseph's life. It was in prison that he learned to trust God, even when things looked bleak. It was in prison that he developed the leadership skills he would need to become second in command in the entire kingdom.  And it was in prison that he met the very man who would later introduce him to the Pharaoh. This shows that even in the most challenging times, there is potential for growth and learning.

Right now, you may be feeling constrained by your job, family, or finances. Perhaps you're not where you thought you would be at this point in your life, and you're wondering if you'll ever get there.  Maybe you feel God calling you to do something more, but circumstances are standing in the way of reaching that goal.  Don't give up. Keep trusting God, and keep moving forward.

Because, just like Joseph, you never know what God has in store for you. He may be using this time to prepare you for something greater. He may be using it to develop the skills and character you need to fulfill His purpose for your life. This is just a necessary step on the road to where God wants you to be. So, trust in His plan, give it all you have, and leave the rest up to Him. This trust can bring you peace and reassurance in your current situation.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28
