Falling for Jesus

Yesterday, while out walking my furry companion, Tess, I found myself in a bit of a pickle. One minute, I was strolling along, deep in prayer, and the next, I was sprawled out on the pavement like a clumsy giraffe on roller skates. I have no idea what happened—one second, I was vertical, and the next, I was horizontal.

As I sat there in the middle of the road, nursing my wounded pride and trying to figure out if anything was broken, I couldn't help but laugh and cry at the absurdity of it all. I mean, really? Out of all the things that could've happened, I managed to take a tumble while praying. Talk about irony!

As I hobbled my way home, I started to see the humour in the situation. I mean, how many people can say they've taken a dive while communing with the Almighty? It's not exactly a common occurrence, or is it?

Like my little tumble, our spiritual walk can sometimes take unexpected turns. One minute, we're walking along, basking in the warmth of God's love, and the next, we're flat on our faces, wondering what in the world just happened. Life has a way of catching us off guard, and before we know it, we're down for the count.

But here's the good news: we're not alone in our struggles. As believers, we have someone who's always there to help us when we fall—Jesus. He's not just a bystander but our ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1, KJV), and He's never too busy to lend a hand.

So, the next time you find yourself face-down in the middle of the road (metaphorically speaking, of course), don't be afraid to reach out to Jesus. He's happy to help you back up, dust you off, and set you on the right path again. And who knows? You might even find a reason to laugh about it later.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a date with an ice pack and a comfy couch. But before I go, let me leave you with this little nugget of wisdom: when life knocks you down, remember—it's all part of the adventure. Embrace it, learn from it, and most importantly, don't forget to laugh about it. After all, a good sense of humour is the best medicine for a bruised ego—and a bruised everything else.

Also, if you happen to see a stray giraffe on roller skates, would you mind giving me a call? I think I might have started a trend.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. - Psalm 37:23-24
