Not All Adhesives Are Created Equal

As we’ve settled into our RV life, Jason and I have discovered the wonder of adhesive strips. These things are great! You can hang hooks, pictures, and so much more without damaging the walls. Adhesive strips are on every RVer’s list of “must haves,” and we understand why.

That being said, finding the right strips took a bit of trial and error because not all adhesives are created equal. Some hold up well while others unstick within hours. Since our home will endure a good bit of jostling as we make our way down the highways, we knew we needed to find adhesive strips that did more than making empty promises. We needed some that would do all they claimed and more!

I can’t help but think of people in this life who are searching for the “right god.” These people don’t want to change their ways, but they long for someone or something they can count on no matter what. They want security. They want something they can hold onto and be held by. They’re looking for more than empty promises, but at the end of the day, they discover that what they’re looking for can’t be found at the bottom of a bottle or in the arms of their latest attempt at love.

Let’s face it, not all gods are created equal. Sure, there are things in this life that will satisfy for a while. Like the unreliable adhesive strips, they’ll appear to be working in your favor—doing all you hoped for. But before long, everything comes crashing down, leaving you with broken pieces and shattered dreams.

It’s time to stop settling for “good enough.” You need the real thing. We all need the One true God. The only One who can hold onto us with a grip that will never let go. Unlike all the other substitutes, the Lord won’t fail or disappoint us. Instead, He’ll meet our every need, doing all He claimed and so much more. There’s no other like Him!

I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.

— Isaiah 45:5-6
For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

— Psalm 18:31-33
