My Keyword for 2018

My Keyword for 2018DanaRongione.com.jpg My Keyword for 2018DanaRongione.com.jpg

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about my motto for the coming year.  Instead of choosing a bunch of New Year’s resolutions, I determined to pick a single phrase to be the theme for the entire year.  The expression, you may recall, was “Get Real.”

After much thought and prayer, I’ve decided to also add a keyword for 2018.  Like my motto, this word will encompass, direct and serve as a reminder in every area of my life. When I’m confused, frustrated, happy, confident or overwhelmed, my keyword and year’s motto will bring to mind the lessons I’ve learned thus far and the elements I feel the Lord wants me to incorporate into my life.

My motto, “Get Real,” will remind me to be the person God created me to be instead of pretending to be something I’m not–especially when “that person” is the picture-perfect woman who has it all together.  As for my keyword, I have chosen the word “breathe.”  This verbal command is my reminder to be calm, think clearly and not panic.  It serves as a prompting to stop and reflect on the promises and character of God instead of on difficult circumstances or perplexing situations.  As I breathe in the fullness of God and exhale my worries, my mountains seem less intimidating, and I am able to walk forward in faith.

So, there you have it–both my keyword and my motto for the New Year.  How about you?  What word or phrase could act as a trigger for you to encourage proper reactions and responses in your life?  What words or phrases do you find yourself thinking about, dwelling on or repeating to yourself?  Why not use these as a focal point for the new year?  Not that the word or phrase itself is to be your focus but rather that it will help draw your focus to God.  I can think of no better way to begin the new year!

If you have a motto or keyword for 2018, I’d love to hear it.  Please leave a comment below or contact me to let me know what you’ve chosen.

In the meantime, here’s the perfect song to go along with my keyword.  I absolutely LOVE the way this song is done.  The verses, with their fast-paced rhythm and panic-driven lyrics, remind me of how I often feel when faced with the many demands of each day.  But then, the chorus literally causes me to sigh in relief.  The simplicity.  The quiet.  The calm.  It’s so beautiful.  I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do.
